- The trailer starts with a long shot of man walking around the woods. The colour and effect of the beginning of the trailer is dark and shadows out the man with the natural sunlight coming through the trees in the background. The mise-en-scene within the with the use of location within the beginning of the trailer is a convention of a horror genre film with a dark mysterious woods. The trailer then cuts to a middle shot of the man entering an abandoned house which the door opens slowly which creates suspense towards the audience as it leaves them questioning what the man is going to face in the house. The use of effects within this part of the trailer is shown to have a limited amount of light which seems to only be natural sunlight coming through the windows placed around the abandoned house. It then jump cuts to different parts of the house using closeups to get the true effect of the abandoned house and whats inside the house which shall make the audience feel more engaged within the trailer and creates them to feel like there involved within the trailer. It then cuts to a closeup of the mans face which looks like hes had a scare or something which has put him on edge. This creates tension and suspense towards the audience which is a convention within a horror genre film within the film industry.
- The trailer then cuts to a long shot of a room which looks to be locked up with children in there which are acting like animals. It shows the children from two peoples point of view then zooms into a girl in the corner facing back towards the audience which makes more of a suspense towards the audience as the trailer starts to build up to the rest of the film and with not giving to much away about the characters within the film.
- The trailer includes mise-en-scene with two types of location with the the abandoned house in the woods and a normal house showing what likes to be a normal stereotypical American family. However, the trailer then cuts to a middle shot of the two children eating each others hair which isn't seen as the norm which infers that they are controlled by the antagonist which infers the antagonists authority for the children.
- There's then shots of the women whoes looking after the children with her husband which looks to be the children's relative of some sort either their dad or uncle. The facial expressions of the women gives an impression that she's worried and apprehensive to whats wrong with the children. To the audience they shall infer that she might have an idea of the antagonist having control of the children. By showing this within the trailer shall make the audience feel engaged with the characters are her emotions which is a convention of a horror genre film.
- The end of the trailer includes fast shots which has the use of jump cuts and using closeups of the characters which shows there emotion which creates a sense of the audience feeling engaged within the film. By making the audience feel engaged within the trailer shall make them want to go and see the rest of the film which already makes the film have a fan base and shall instantly be successful within the film industry.
